Bulgarian “seagull" Ivan, 58, has been escorting wealthy foreign ladies at Sunny Beach resort for 40 years. He’s getting old and tired. His greatest asset seems to be his EU passport when trying to get the attention of Russian ladies. But even they start questioning Ivan’s status as a possible provider.

He’s got no savings and the pandemic makes things even more difficult; there’s no tourists. Ivan supports himself by washing cars and windows. He tries to connect to Russian ladies in order to help them to get visas to EU and buy property in Bulgaria. He soon understands, that he’s not really credible as a serious male companion.

Ivan’s real wound is an adult son in Ukraine who refuses to talk to him. Maybe now, spring 2022, would be the right time to re-connect. The pandemic does not make the work any easier. No tourists means no money. Ivan would like to settle down and reconnect with his son in Ukraine who does not answer his calls – until spring 2022 arrives.
